Many people understand adoption to mean a traditional adoption involving parents adopting a child who was born to another set of parents who could not care for the child. Typically, the adopting parents do not have the legal knowledge regarding the steps necessary to successfully adopt a child, or how to handle the legal issues presented in the process.
